SELFS Summer Trip to Margat Shell Grotto
The sun should be shining so we won't be meeting at the Old King's Head in August. Instead, on Sunday 19th August at 10.32am, we shall be boarding a train from London Bridge to Margate on the Kent coast to picnic or the beach and then tour the famous Margate Shell Grotto at 3pm.

Is it a subterranean Victorian folly or an pagan shrine? A hoax, a mis-understanding or England's most under-rated sacred site? How was it discovered? Who built it? It is haunted? Are there any more secrets there? Entrance is £2.50 with a guided tour. Come and decide for yourself. Numbers are limited so please contact SELFS at scott(at)selfs.org.uk to reserve a place. Please note that rain may prevent us entering the Grotto so call Scott on 0795 201 2487 on the day to check if unsure. The journey is 2 hours, 15 minutes each way so bring a game or book! Check here for information on accessibility and facilities at the Grotto.
